Michael’s (Steve Carell) world is rocked by troubling rumors about Dunder Mifflin. The company may be filing for bankruptcy soon. It could be bad.
He forces the office into a day of strange diversions, upsetting Jim (John Krasinski) and leading others to wonder if Michael has gone insane.

His plan is to recreate a murder mystery in Antebellum Savannah. Everyone tries to fake accents and determine who was involved in the murder.
As expected, some people are more into this than others. Dwight seems intent on finding the fake killer. Stanley just wants to do his crossword.
The most hilarious scene comes from Creed, who shows up and Michael tells, in his fake accent, that they are trying to solve a recent murder.
Creed bolts, hops in his car and peels out of the parking lot.
There is no subplot tonight, although we do see a little bit more from Andy (Ed Helms) and Erin (Ellie Kemper), who want to court each other but are confused by the murder mystery, and their own awkwardness.
In the end, Jim decides to stop trying to take himself so seriously and let Michael win this one. Sometimes, it’s important to keep morale up, if only for a day.
Will Dunder-Mifflin really go under? That we’ll have to wait and see.

Dwight brought bagels so everyone would “owe” him one in his quest to depose Jim.
Michael continued to brag about his relationship with Helene, particularly because it was her birthday, and they were having lunch with Pam and Jim.
Things got tense and strange when Michael found out that Helene is a cool 58 years old. The Helene-is-old theme continued and made Michael realize he had to end it.
Dwight and Andy “helped” each other and did “favors” for one another: Dwight brought breakfast, so Andy bought everyone a taco lunch.

Dwight cleaned the office freezer, so Andy shined Dwight’s briefcase.
They tidied each other up, offered each other comical advice, and so on. No one was about to be out-owed.
At lunch, things got really awkward, but when he revealed the scrapbook he made for her, it became epically so.
Michael decided that Helene wasn’t right for him after all and the time to tell her was right then, as they were finishing birthday cake.
He tried to pin it on Pam, but she dodged, and so he had to launch into the full-on dumping spiel. Helene needs someone who gets her references.
He wants kids, a life that includes bungee jumping and going to Italy, well if he ever wanted to do those things, that is.
Back at the office, Michael offered Pam a raise — bribe — and jokingly offers to let her hit him, which she way too readily accepts.
It’s the threat heard round the office: Ryan and Kelly rushed in to see if Michael was scared, Toby tried to make sure it would happen off company property and offered some punching advice, and Kelly made popcorn.
It seemed that Pam wouldn’t go through with it, but after Michael says that Helene came on to him, Pam whips around and slaps him as hard as she can.

The drama between Pam and Michael was put on hold this week as the office harped on Michael over his most recent gaffe.
The episode opened with the Dunder-Mifflin crew awaiting the arrival of a group of kids who were visiting to see the haunted house.

Kelly sported a “Fifth Element” costume. Meredith dressed as a hobo. Michael? Why … oh, just look at the picture.
The majority of the episode centered around Michael falling into a koi pond while at a business meeting with Jim — a trip he alone was going to make until corporate insisted Michael accompany him.
He stepped on and killed a fish in the process. With Jim holding a grudge because corporate felt he needed babysitting, he stood by as Michael continued making a big splash. Har har.
Laid-back Jim, the dude who doesn’t take work stuff too seriously, is slowly evolving into a stern businessman and the power struggle between him and Michael is becoming an issue.
Moreover, Michael, in an attempt to divert attention away from his gaffe by making fun of himself, revealed his insecurities in front of the staff. It was awkwardly hilarious.

The fifth season of NBC’s The Office featured some acclaimed guest stars (Idris Elba, Amy Ryan), a post-Super Bowl extravaganza and more hilarious quotes than we can possibly list on one website. Ohhh, wait, that’s not true, we’ve got the biggest collection anywhere!
Below are some of our favorite lines from this season. Be sure to check out our library of The Office quotes for the best quotes from EVERY episode of the show to date!
David Wallace: [playing volleyball at the company picnic] Nicely done. We’re still going to crush you though!
Charles: Yes we are!
Rolph: You suckers are goin’ down! They’re gonna wipe their asses with your serves! Piss all over your faces!
Dwight: Okay, Rolph! Woah. Wait, wait-
Rolph: It’s true!
Toby: This reminds me of the HR convention last fall.
Dwight: Normally I don’t condone leaving early, but I have an appointment with the horse doctor. How that horse became a doctor, I don’t know. [laughs at his own joke] No, I’m kidding. He’s just a regular doctor who shoots your horse in the head when its leg is broken.
Creed: I want to set you up with my daughter.
Jim: Oh, I’m engaged to Pam.
Creed: I thought you were gay.
Jim: Then why would you want to set me up with your daughter?
Creed: I don’t know.
Michael: There are certain defining moments in a person’s life. The day he is born. The day he grows hair. The day he starts a business. And the day he sells that business back to Dunder Mifflin.
Michael: Did I ever tell you about the day that Steve Martin died?
Pam: Steve Martin’s not dead, Michael.
Michael: I know. But I always thought that the day that he died would be the worst day of my life. I was wrong. It’s this.
Ryan: [on phone] Last night was crazy. Jojo? Yeah. He did a donut in a parking lot in front of a cop. And then he yells, “Hey cop, you like donuts?” then we drive off. [pauses] No, he just stayed there.
David: Do you realize what you’re asking for here? You’re talking about salary plus health benefits-
Michael: And dental this time.
David: Insurance, taxes, social security for three people. This is a heck of a lot more than 60 grand. You’re talking about a multi-million dollar buy-out.
Michael: These are our demands.
David: Your company cannot be worth that much.
Michael: Our company is worth nothing.
Jim: About a week ago, Michael gave his 2-week notice. And, surprisingly there is a very big difference between Michael trying and Michael not trying.
Kevin: Lynn, I’m just gonna say to you everything that I am thinking.
Lynn: OK.
Kevin: I think you have the best smile. I’d like to take you out to dinner and a movie.
Lynn: OK.
Kevin: Nice. Boobs.
Kevin: I can’t keep doing this forever.
Red Cross woman: It’s been 20 seconds.
[Kevin continues for a few seconds, stops, and walks off]
Kevin: Call it.
Michael: Andy, Cornell called, they think you suck. And you’re gayer than Oscar. Boom. Roasted.
Andy: We’re getting married at Schrute Farms. No matter what. I have looked at 12 venues, I have lost eight deposits and I have seen Angela naked zero times. I am not losing another deposit.
Phyllis: Oh, I don’t think it’s blackmail. Angela just does what I ask her to do so I won’t tell everyone that she’s cheating on Andy with Dwight. I think for it to be blackmail, there would have to be a formal letter.

Kevin starts out with a discussion of his famous chili.
As he spills the beans about the secret ingredient (”undercooked onions”), he literally spills the beans, all over the floor, next to Jim’s desk. He tries vain to save the food, shoveling it back in a giant pot using clipboards, but ends up slipping and sliding all over the place. Michael makes a triumphant return, bit it turns quickly into confusion and frustration by his reunited staff. They aren’t pleased that Pam and Ryan have been promoted to sales AND get to keep their clients they stole from Dunder-Mifflin while with The Michael Scott Paper Company. Michael tells them to suck it up and deal, and then switches the subject to the return of Casual Fridays.
Dwight orders a secret meeting, using invisible ink (urine) to code a message for the sales team, minus Ryan and Pam. They all meet in the warehouse, where Dwight says something fishy is going on. Jim says they should just talk to Michael. Dwight demands action. Jim comes in to warn them about the pending mutiny.

Michael says he’s not going to take it. When the crew returns, they lie and say they were out to lunch. Michael calls their bluff and destroys their packed lunches.
Casual Friday, meanwhile, takes a turn for the worse. Toby tells Meredith her minidress is too, well… slutty. He tells her to pull it down. She does, revealing far more than anyone needs to see.
Jim has been hiding in the lunch room, playing chess with Creed.
The sales feud hasn’t ended, though. When Ryan tries to talk to one of Dwight’s long-time clients, Dwight freaks. The guy hangs up.
Then the emotions start flowing. Michael says the sales team should get over their hurt feelings about Ryan and Pam getting clients, but they threaten to quit and start a new paper company.
Michael calls their bluff again, saying if they want to go, great, but if they want to stay, apologize.
Phyllis is near tears. She says Michael screwed them, not corporate, when he left. That gets Michael to realize he was wrong.
He ends up giving Phyllis, Stanley, Dwight and Andy their old clients back.
Now Michael has to let go either Ryan or Pam. He asks Jim for advice, but he is busy playing Scrabble with Creed.
Jim and Michael go through pros and cons of Ryan and Pam.
Michael goes with Pam, and offers Ryan his temp job back, though Ryan isn’t thrilled with that. While he’s on a roll, Michael fake fires Erin.
Toby, by the way, cancels Casual Friday.

Things are really coming together at The Michael Scott Paper Company. From putting Pam in sales, to bringing Ryan back, to having Michael actually manage to wrestle away some of Dunder Mifflin’s clients, things really were hitting their stride in that 160-square foot office. But all good things must come to an end.

Here’s how.
Every once in a great while, Michael Scott shows us how, despite seemingly impossible odds, he did manage to get head in life at one point, and it’s quite interesting. When he managed to successfully negotiate Dunder Mifflin’s buyout of The Michael Scott Paper Company, for that brief moment, Michael Scott was a master negotiator, and it was glorious. When the dust settled, The Office is and always was about Dunder-Mifflin, so The Michael Scott Paper Company had to go away somehow. But instead of having it end in shame and failure, Michael was able to wrest victory from the jaws of defeat - and even secure some jobs out of the deal. The future of D-M Scranton will be interesting, with Pam out from behind the receptionist’s desk and working as a salesperson. This sets up an interesting subplot in which she and Jim may be directly in competition for clients, which might take a toll on their relationship.
Also interesting? Ryan is going to be back, yet again, in an as-yet unspecified position. There’s no way that’s going to go well. It’s Ryan.

The Dwight and Michael dynamic was altered, possibly forever, in this hilarious episode of The Office.
When the half-hour began, Dwight was hating on new boss Charles because the guy had the gall to ask Dwight to wear full-length sleeves, as part of the new dress code. Due to his displeasure, Dwight had no problem feeding Michael a few Dundler Mifflin secrets, and even clients. Indeed, Dwight was willing to help the Michael Scott Paper Company get off the ground.
At least for a few minutes.
Soon enough, Charles called Dwight into his office, complimented him on his work ethic and said the two of them should - gasp! - get a drink together that week and discuss how to expand Dwight’s role!

This appreciation caused Dwight to see Charles in a new light. He called Michael and said - through a series of innuendos and metaphors that Michael, hysterically, could not follow until Pam and Ryan helped out - he could no longer assist Michael Scott Ltd. Stunned, Michael asked Dwight to meet him at their “spot” (i.e. the parking lot).
Once there, though, Michael was ambushed! Dwight brought along Charles, who said Michael had to leave Dundler Mifflin alone. This meeting led to an all-out war between the pair of former BFFs.
Michael, showcasing actual salesman acumen, called Harper Collins, Dwight’s largest client. He taunted Dwight with the possibility that the company might leave Dundler for Michael Scott. As a response, Dwight broke into Michael’s new office and stole all his supplies, including the rolodex he was using to gather together new clients.
The feud culminated when Michael called Dwight from the offices of Harper Collins and kept him on the line (in his pocket) as Michael entered a meeting with the big company’s boss. Dwight could hear everything that was going on, as he got into his car and raced over to prevent the deal from taking place.
Dwight arrived, out of breath, and burst into the office of the man in charge at Harper Collins. Michael was there, getting along swimmingly with him. After Dwight tries to give a sales pitch, the boss cut in: why doesn’t Dwight and Michael just send him their best offers? This was all Michael needed to hear, as he headed out, head held high. Dwight, however, tried one last trick to get on the good side of the Harper boss.
Reading from Michael’s rolodex card, he asked the man how is gay son was doing. This was secret information, however, as the man looked confused and angry and Michael told the camera he color-coded his cards so he’d know which information was not meant to be revealed. Dwight didn’t know this and, in the end, Michael got the best of his former employee.
In other funny storyline news: Jim pretended to be torn up over his impending wedding to Pam in order to mess with Andy. It worked. Eventually, though, Andy caught on, but Jim cut off his anger with helpful, kind advice: he and Pam are very happy; and while Andy may be hurt over what happened with Angela, he will find love again. Just trust Tuna, Andy. The man knows what he’s talking about.

Charles Miner (Idris Elba) may be taking the fun out of The Office, but everyone’s least favorite soccer fan’s reign of terror may be over soon. Creed Bratton teased to E! Online that there will be a casual friday coming up where Jim and Creed play chess. Wait, a casual Friday under Charles’ rule? Yeah, our theories are either his days are numbered or maybe Kelly or Angela figures out a way to loosen this man up. Meanwhile, in much jucier The Office spoiler news, we got our hands on the following picture of Pam:

Is it just us or does Pam look like she’s back at Dunder Mifflin and not as a receptionist? Maybe Pam’s little move will make her return as a saleswoman.
