Television audiences will next see Carell starring in the NBC series The Office: An American Workplace, based on the award-winning BBC series The Office.
On the big screen, Carell recently starred as the obnoxious news anchor Evan Baxter in the hit comedy Bruce Almighty, directed by Tom Shadyac and starring Jim Carrey, Jennifer Aniston and Morgan Freeman. His upcoming films include Woody Allen’s next movie, Melinda and Melinda, which reunites him with Will Ferrell. Carell is an alumnus of the Second City comedy troupe in Chicago, where he also performed with several noted theatre groups at The Goodman Theater and Wisdom Bridge Theatre. He made his film debut in 1991 in the John Hughes comedy Curly Sue, before segueing to television as a writer and actor on The Dana Carvey Show. ‘Night Out’ another The Office episode was aired on April 24, 2008 and was a satisfying but not a funnier episode, which we all expect from The Office episodes. The episode begins with Ryan making a visit to the office and is having various professional and personal problems. Michael is lonely and gets onto the idea that Ryan meets an unbelievable woman in New York night clubs.
Michael drives towards New York to find Ryan and come to meet with some beautiful gals. But poor Michael as those babes are younger than Michael. That doesn’t stop Dwight from hooking up with a college girl’s basketball player. On the other hand, Jim suggests everyone to catch up on the work and wants them to stay late at office otherwise they’ll have to come on Saturday to finish the work on required time. Meanwhile, security locks up the parking which lets the whole group trapped inside. A football is thrown accidentally by Pam into Meredith’s face and it was my LOL scene. The group decides that it’s only the security guard who can let them go out. With this episode, I found that Ryan I really having a cocaine problem and got hints when Ryan doesn’t try and ditch Michael at club. It seems that Ryan doesn’t have any true friends and we also discovered that Ryan finds out that putting his hopes in Michael is not very beneficial. The great moment that I found was when Toby and Pam laugh about something and Toby puts his hand on Pam’s knee. Toby’s love for Pam- let’s see where will it finish? My fave picks from the episode:
Michael: Would you have sex with Meredith?
Jim: What?
Michael: Do you think she’d keep it quiet?
Jim: I’m gonna go to my desk.
Pam: There is a master key and a spare key for the office. Dwight has them both. When I asked, “What if you die, Dwight? How will we get into the office?” He said, “If I’m dead, you guys have been dead for weeks.”
Over all, the episode was good but it could have been better and I can expect more drama and fun in the upcoming episodes. Well, what will happen with Ryan and how he would help Michael, answers will be there but after the next episode.
